Ladle
- 6 cup Fresh Blackberries
- 7 cup Granulated Sugar
- 0.25 cup Lemon Juice
- 1 box Powdered Fruit Pectin
- 0.5 tsp Butter
Step 1: Wash and Crush the Berries
Rinse your blackberries gently under cool water. Crush them with a fork or potato masher until chunky.
Step 2: Measure the Crushed Fruit
Measure exactly six cups of crushed berries. This keeps your jam set correctly every time.
Step 3: Add Pectin and Lemon Juice
Stir the pectin and lemon juice into the crushed berries in your large pot. Mix well.
Step 4: Bring to a Rolling Boil
Turn the heat to high. Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a full rolling boil.
Step 5: Add Sugar and Boil Hard
Pour in the sugar all at once. Boil hard for exactly one minute, stirring the whole time.
Step 6: Skim, Jar, and Seal
Remove from heat and skim off the foam. Ladle the hot jam into jars and seal right away.
➜ Use fully ripe blackberries for the deepest, sweetest flavor in your jam.
➜ Old pectin won't set right, so always buy a fresh box.
➜ Don't skip skimming the foam, or your jars will look cloudy.
➜ Sterilize your jars first, or the jam might spoil early.
➜ Boil hard for the full minute, or your jam stays too runny.
