I still remember the first time I tried making a Philly cheesesteak seasoning recipe at home.

Small Mixing Bowl

Airtight Spice Jar
Label and Marker
- 2 tsp Chili Powder
- 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Onion Powder
- 2 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 2 tsp Dried Thyme
- 2 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 tsp Kosher Salt
Step 1: Measure All Your Spices
Grab your measuring spoons and measure every spice carefully. Line them all up in your small bowl so nothing gets missed.
Step 2: Whisk the Blend Together
Use your whisk to mix all the spices together. Keep whisking until the color looks even and there are no clumps.
Step 3: Taste and Adjust
Pinch a tiny bit between your fingers and taste it. Too salty? Add more paprika. Not spicy enough? Add a touch more chili powder.
Step 4: Transfer to Your Spice Jar
Carefully pour your finished blend into your airtight spice jar. Use a small spoon or funnel so you don't lose any.
Step 5: Label the Jar
Write the name and today's date on the label. Stick it on the jar. Trust me, six months from now you will thank yourself.
Step 6: Use It on Your Steak
Toss two pounds of thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin with about one-third cup of this seasoning. Cook on high heat with onions and peppers until done.
➜ Always use smoked paprika, not sweet paprika, for the best flavor.
➜ Store your jar away from heat and direct sunlight always.
➜ Shake the jar before each use so spices redistribute evenly.
➜ Do not use fresh garlic here; powder blends much better.
➜ Add a pinch of cayenne if you want a little extra heat kick.
➜ This blend also works great on roasted vegetables and eggs.
➜ One-third cup of seasoning coats about two pounds of steak perfectly.
