Measuring Spoons
- 16 oz Smoked Sausage
- 2 cups White Vinegar
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tbsp Pickling Salt
- 1 tbsp White Sugar
- 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 3 cloves Garlic
Step 1:
Wash your glass jar with hot soapy water. Rinse it well and let it dry. This keeps your snack very fresh.
Step 2:
Place the sausages on your cutting board. Slice them into three-inch long pieces. You can also cut them into rounds.
Step 3:
Pack the sausage pieces into the clean jar. Push them down to fit as many as possible. Leave some room at the top.
Step 4:
Peel the garlic cloves with your fingers. Drop them into the jar with the meat. Add the red pepper flakes now too.
Step 5:
Put the vinegar and water in the saucepan. Add the salt and the white sugar. Stir the mixture with a big spoon.
Step 6:
Turn the stove to medium-high heat. Bring the liquid to a rolling boil. Let it boil for three full minutes.
Step 7:
Carefully pour the hot liquid into the jar. Cover all the sausage pieces completely. Stop just below the rim of the jar.
Step 8:
Wipe the rim of the jar with a cloth. Put the lid on and twist it tight. Let the jar sit on the counter.
Step 9:
Wait for the jar to reach room temperature. Then place the jar in the refrigerator. Let it sit for three days.
